What's it all about? - Ambition, Resilience and Community

Our TLWS values are simply: Ambition, Resilience and Community. These are threaded throughout our curriculum, but what’s it truly all about? Together, they form a powerful foundation for navigating life’s challenges whilst staying true to who we are. Ambition being the spark of possibility, Resilience being the strength to overcome and community being the anchor of support.

Our values add the ‘golden thread’ to our curriculum to create opportunities for the future that may not have been seen possible in the past. We focus on Ambition being the drive for success, but know that it’s so much more than just that. It’s the ‘purpose’ we desire; how we grow, develop and make a meaningful impact as we move forward in our lives. Finding that drive to motivate ourselves, to aim for greatness, even when the path may seem unclear. This ethos is woven through our academic curricula: our core understanding of equality and diversity and our growth from gaining knowledge & skills to support our social, moral and spiritual development, which is cemented in our fundamental British Values. Ambition needs Resilience, as on its own it just may not be achieved. Resilience is not just about ‘bouncing back’ and ‘keeping on going’ but growing from each situation, knowing that our journey is just as important as the destination. This growth is woven through building on understanding and knowledge of wellbeing, relationships and that desire to prepare for adulthood, in such a complex world. Without resilience threaded through everything we do, how can we move forward with purpose to achieve our goals and grab those opportunities at any given moment?

Highlighting these personal values is not a journey we consider should be travelled alone. How can we achieve without a community around us, to lift us up in an environment where potential is everything? Having access to understanding and truly knowing a community leads naturally onto aspiring to be in it, participating alongside it and preparing to be a true part of it, with purpose and direction, in the knowledge that ‘trusted people’ are there to support us. Through a curriculum that promotes community within everything it does, windows of opportunities are created that may not at once have been seen, and an emphasis of building this up through experiences is captured through our ARC Curriculum.
